Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Consider a request for zone change from GC-MD (General Commercial - Multiple Family Dwelling) District to RS (Residential Single Family Dwelling) District. FILE: 1846-Z STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request. Sherman & Sherman, Inc. is requesting a zone change from GC-MD (General Commercial - Multiple Family Dwelling) District to RS (Residential Single Family Dwelling) District. The property is located at 2645 Liberty. The purpose of the zone change is to allow a residential structure to be moved to the lot and occupied as a single family residence. With the properties to the north, south, east and west zoned GC-MD, the request could be considered spot zoning. However, staff is currently conducting a zoning study of the Old Town area and a recommendation on zoning changes will be brought before the Planning Commission and City Council in October. As part of its recommendation, staff will be proposing that the subject property and the properties to the east and west be rezoned to RS. Therefore, this request would no longer be considered spot zoning. This property is located in the Oaks Historic District. In August, the Historic Landmark Commission approved the moving of this house to the subject property. Exhibits are attached. PUBLIC NOTIFICATION Notices mailed to property owners 15 .
