STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request.
Spindletop Unitarian Church is requesting a specific use permit to
allow a church in an RS (Residential Single Family Dwelling) District.
The property is located at 125 E. Caldwood. On the 1.37 acres of
property sits a 3,643 sq. ft. house.
Spindletop Unitarian Church has been located at 1575 Spindletop
Road since 1966. It is the church=s desire to relocate to the subject
property. The pastor states that they chose this location because they
feel that it is an ideal fit in that it is at the threshold of the
neighborhood and is in close proximity to both Caldwood Elementary
and First Christian Church.
The current plan calls for providing 50 seats for congregants with a
proposed expansion to 100 seats at sometime in the future. Services
will be held on Sunday mornings and there will be small groups of
about 10 people meeting at the church during certain evenings after
6 p.m.
A 5' x 6' monument will be constructed to identify the church.
Exhibits are attached.

the privacy fence into neighboring yards.
