STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval.
Word of God Christian Church has applied for a specific use permit to
allow a church in an RM-H (Residential Conservation and
Revitalization) District and a NC (Neighborhood Commercial) District.

The property is located at 1360 N. 7.
Pastor E. S. Johnson states that the church would like to continue an
existing ministry in a facility that the church intends to purchase.
The previous owner and use of the property was a civil engineering
practice.
Word of God Christian Church is a non-denominational congregation
that has been serving the Old Town area for the last five years. The
church holds two weekly services on Sunday morning from 9:45 a.m.
to approximately 1:00 p.m. and on Wednesday evening from 7:00
p.m. to 9 p.m. A bi-weekly service is held every other Friday evening
from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Regular Sunday attendance is 15-20 people with 8-10 vehicles.
Wednesday evening attendance is 8-10 people with 3-5 vehicles and
the Friday evening attendance is 8-10 people with 3-5 vehicles.

This application is in conformance with all eight conditions necessary
for approval. Comments on Conditions 1 and 4 follow:
1. The church will occupy an existing commercial building.
It will have a small impact on neighboring properties.
4. All parking is existing. The applicant estimates that,
at the maximum, there will be 8-10 vehicles on site at
any one time.
