STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval.
J.C. Mazoch, representing Coastal Welding Supply, has applied for a
specific use permit to allow the filling of oxygen tanks in an LI (Light
Industrial) District. The property is located at 2155 IH-10 East.
Mr. Mazoch states that Coastal Welding Supply=s Phase I activities
include relocating its administrative offices as well as some of its
welding supply inventory consisting of welding electrodes and wire and
miscellaneous industrial supply items. In addition, the company will
be relocating and expanding their inert cylinder gas filling to the new
location. Phase II will include the filling of oxygen tanks at the IH-10
facility.

This application is in conformance with all eight conditions necessary
for approval. Comments on Conditions 7 and 8 follow:
7. The building and parking are all existing and are
surrounded by a chain link fence.
8. The Comprehensive Plan designates the area as an Activity
Corridor which may include highway commercial and open
display retailing , wholesale distributing and warehousing
operations, restricted light industry, business offices,
hotels and motels and higher density residential
development.
