HomeMy WebLinkAbout2274-P DATE: October 17, 2016 TO: Planning Commission and City Council FROM: Chris Boone, Director of Planning and Community Development SUBJECT: Consider a request for a Specific Use Permit to allow the expansion of a Polyethylene Plant in LI (Light Industrial District) zoning. FILE: 2274-P ___ STAFF REPORT Staff recommends approval of the request. Wallace R. Wilson is requesting a Specific Use Permit to allow the expansion of the Polyethylene Plant into the LI (Light Industrial District) zoned property located to the west of the Beaumont Municipal Airport. ExxonMobil Polyethylene is currently in operation just west of this site. The existing plant is outside the Beaumont city limits, however, the expansion will be within the city limits. Given that this expansion is buffered to the south by the existing G.E. plant, and to the east by the municipal airport, the proposed expansion would be compatible with area land uses. A temporary lay down yard is proposed for the Beaumont Municipal property to the east of the expansion project. Please note that final occupancy approval is subject to review and acceptance of submitted plans and field inspections to verify compliance with applicable codes. Exhibits are attached.
