SUBJECT: Request for approval of a certificate of appropriateness to allow
the installation of a 6' tall wood screening fence in the front
yard.

STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends denial of the 6' tall wood
screening fence. However, the applicant might wish to consider a
wire fence (not a chain link).
Sandra Hammerling, the property owner, wishes to construct a 6' tall
wood screening fence surrounding her front yard at 2560 North.
Section 30-21.2 of the Zoning Ordinance allows a solid wall or fence
that does not exceed a height of four feet. In no circumstances shall
a solid wall or fence located in a front yard exceed a maximum height
of six feet. A fence or wall that is at least 80% open may be erected
to a maximum height of six feet.
Ms. Hammerling states that the reason for the 6' wood screening fence
is to buffer her house from the noise generated by traffic and
ambulances passing by.
