HomeMy WebLinkAboutCA-1091 DATE: January 9, 2006 TO: Historic Landmark Commission FROM: Stephen C. Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for approval of a certificate of appropriateness to allow repairs to the house at 2360 Liberty Ave. FILE: CA-1091 STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request. E. R. Savoy is requesting a certificate of appropriateness to make repairs to his house at 2360 Liberty. Due to Hurricane Rita, the house suffered damage and is in need of repair. The house is now shingled with concrete tiles. The concrete tile roof is badly damaged and will be replaced with architectural shingles. In addition, Mr. Savoy wishes to change the roof configuration on the rear of the house by extending the gabled roof of the addition and tying it into the roof of the main structure, thus eliminating the flat roof portion. The east wall of the addition will also be extended to line up with the east wall of the flat roofed portion on the rear of the house. Mr. Savoy states that he would also like to remove the existing asbestos siding on the second story of the rear portion of the house and replace it with cedar shake siding to match the original main structure. The house is not listed in the SPARE Beaumont Survey. Exhibits are attached.
