STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request.
In October, 2001, the Clean Community Department requested
approval of a certificate of appropriateness to allow the City to
demolish the structure at 2255 North. At that time, the Historic
Landmark Commission tabled the request for further consideration
because the person purchasing the property, Gerardo Loza, had
enrolled in a work program. Since that time, Mr. Loza has been
before City Council twice and has received numerous work program
extensions.
Pam Loiacano is now asking that this item be reconsidered by the
Commission. Ms. Loiacano states that the structure is in violation of
the City of Beaumont Code of Ordinances pertaining to dangerous
structures.
The structure was tagged as substandard on January 5, 2000. The
Jefferson County Tax Roll now identifies the property owners as
Lorriane S. Go and Lydia Evangelista. Mr. Loza has been doing the
repairs on the property but has not complied with City Council=s
ordered time frame.
In 2000, the structure had 50% or more damage of non-supporting
members and 33% or more damage of the supporting
members. At that time, the structure was considered not
suitable for rehabilitation.
