SUBJECT: Request for approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness to allow
the construction of a wrought iron fence with concrete cinder
block columns at 2190 Angelina.

The Planning Manager recommends denial of this request.
Laurencio Cantu is requesting a Certificate of Appropriateness to allow
a wrought iron fence with concrete cinder block columns. The
property is located at 2190 Angelina.
Section 30-21.2 states that, A Concrete block fences are not permitted and . . . all
exposed brick in a fence column or base must be fired brick as defined by the American
Standard Testing Materials Designation C-126-75A, Type Grade FBS-SW.@ While
concrete block is not in conformance with the ordinance, the
ordinance does state that a fence not in compliance may be approved
if the applicant establishes the fence is historically sensitive or unless
the absence of said fence poses a significant hazard to life or property.
The property is listed in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont survey. The
house was built c. 1925 and is of the Tudor Revival style.
