Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for approval of a certificate of appropriateness to allow A rock face @, cinder block columns for a wrought iron fence. FILE: CA - 1318 STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends denial of this request. Noel Jaimes is requesting a certificate of appropriateness to allow A rock face @, concrete block columns for a wrought iron fence and to stucco his house at 2520 Liberty Avenue. Mr. Jaimes states that he inquired about a permit for the fence and was told he did not need a permit for a fence. He does admit that he forgot to mention he was located in the Oaks Historic District. Staff stopped progress on the fence as soon as it was reported. The blocks are designed to look like cut stone, not concrete. Section 30-21.2 states that, A Concrete block fences are not permitted and . . . all exposed brick in a fence column or base must be fired brick as defined by the American Standard Testing Materials Designation C-126-75A, Type Grade FBS-SW.@ Exhibits are attached.
