HomeMy WebLinkAboutCA-1306 DATE: April 9, 2007 TO: Historic Landmark Commission FROM: Stephen C. Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for approval of a certificate of appropriateness to allow the construction of a carport. FILE: CA-1306 STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends denial of this request. Luis and Maribel Loza are requesting a certificate of appropriateness to build a 20' x 20' carport at the rear of their property at 2218 Laurel. The carport will be constructed with wood posts and topped with a flat aluminum roof. The Lozas state that in the future, they would like to enclose the structure at the rear and sides with siding to match the house and existing storage building. A portion of the structure will be seen from the street. Section 30-21.2 of the Zoning Ordinance states that accessory buildings must be compatible with the scale, shape, roof form, materials, detailing and color of the main building. Accessory buildings must have pitched roofs. This denial is based upon the shape and construction material of the roof. An exhibit is attached.
