STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request.
Pam Loiacano, City of Beaumont Field Supervisor, has applied for a
certificate of appropriateness to allow the demolition of a house at
2630 Gladys. The structure was tagged as substandard and found in
violation of the City of Beaumont Code of Ordinances pertaining to
dangerous structures in August, 2006. The property owner is
Stephen Williams.
Ms. Loiacano states that the house was damaged during Hurricane
Rita. She states that the structure has 33% or more damage to
non-supporting members. The house is suitable for rehabilitation.
JCAD appraises the structure at $9,780.
Mr. Williams has not responded to recent attempts to contact him.
The last word that the City had from him was that he was in
litigation with his insurance company.
The property is listed in the 1991 SPARE Beaumont survey. SPARE
states that the house was built c. 1942, is of the traditional style and
typical of a traditional style home built during the World War II era.
