STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval subject to the following
conditions:
- Paint the laundry room the color of the apartment building.
- A six foot fence shall be constructed to screen the accessory
structure from Liberty.
James Mathews has applied for a certificate of appropriateness to
allow the placement of a portable building to be used as a laundry
room for an apartment complex. The property is located at 275 N.
th

Mr. Mathews states that his tenants requested that he provide laundry
facilities for the apartment complex. Mr. Mathews had a portable
building moved in without a certificate of appropriateness.
Sec. 30-21.2 of the Zoning Ordinance states that accessory buildings
must be compatible with the scale, shape, roof form, materials,
detailing and color of the main building. Accessory buildings must
have pitched roofs. Prefabricated metal accessory buildings are
permitted if they are completely screened from any abutting street.
The apartment building has a flat roof. However, the historic district
regulations require that the any accessory structure have a pitched
roof.
The subject property is not included in the SPARE Beaumont survey.
