Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for a certificate of appropriateness to allow the replacement of a front porch FILE: CA-1500 STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends approval of a pitched roof on the front porch. Brian Vogt has applied for a certificate of appropriateness to allow the replacement of a front porch on the house at 2277 Long. The application shows a porch roof angled towards the street. In 2004, a previous property owner had constructed a two story porch on the front of the house without a certificate of appropriateness. That porch had a roof that angled towards the street. At that time, the Historic Landmark Commission denied the porch, as constructed. The Planning Manager feels that a pitched roof would compliment the front facade of the house better than what is proposed. The house is not listed in the SPARE Beaumont Survey. Exhibit is attached.
