SUBJECT: Request for a certificate of appropriateness to allow the
installation of lattice around the foundation of a house
FILE: CA-1491
STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval.
Bruce Vaughn has applied for a certificate of appropriateness to allow
the installation of lattice around the foundation of the house at 665
th
N. 6.
Mr. Vaughn will be doing foundation repair on the house. The house
currently has a tin skirt around the foundation of the house. Once
the foundation work is complete, the home owner would like to
replace the tin skirt with lattice.
The house is listed in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont Survey. SPARE
states that the house was built c. 1910 and is of the National Folk
style. The house is typical of middle class housing built in Beaumont
after the first Spindletop boom. SPARE says that the use of modern
materials has sacrificed the architectural integrity of the structure.
