STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval.
In July, 2008, Pam Loiacano, City of Beaumont Demolition
Coordinator, applied for a certificate of appropriateness to allow the
rd
demolition of the residential structure at 706-08 3 St. On July
14, the Historic Landmark Commission tabled action on the
demolition to allow David Bradley the opportunity to negotiate the
purchase of the property. On August 11, Ms. Loiacano advised the
Historic Landmark Commission that Mr. Bradley was no longer
pursuing the purchase.
The structure was tagged as substandard on March 12, 2008. Ms.
Loiacano states that the house has 50% or more damage to
non-supporting members. She also states that the house is
substandard but suitable for rehabilitation.
The house is included in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont Survey. The
house was built c. 1908 and is of the Vernacular Victorian style.
SPARE describes the house as an example of upper class housing built
in Beaumont after the first Spindletop boom.
