TO: Historic Landmark Commission
FROM: Stephen C. Richardson, Planning Manager
SUBJECT: Request for a certificate of appropriateness to allow an addition,
new windows and the bricking of a house
FILE: CA-1478
STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval of the addition and the
windows subject to the following conditions:
1. The addition shall have the same type of siding as the
house.
2. The roof of the addition shall have the same type and color
of shingle as on the house.
3. The windows for the house and the addition shall be six
light over six light white framed aluminum or vinyl.
The Planning Manager recommends denial of the brick.
Alma Hernandez has applied for a certificate of appropriateness
to allow an addition, new windows and the bricking of her house
at 2369 Liberty.
The proposal is to add a 15' x 33' gabled extension to the west
side of the house. 3' x 5' multi-light white vinyl or aluminum
windows will be installed throughout the entire house. Ms.
Hernandez would also like to brick the house and the addition.
She states that there are several other brick houses in the
2300 Block of Liberty. However, the Planning Manager feels
that adding brick to the house would drastically change the
historic look of the house and would therefore not be
appropriate.
The house is not listed in the SPARE Beaumont survey.
In addition to approval of the addition by the Historic Landmark
Commission, Ms. Hernandez will need to receive approval of a
special exception to the front yard setback requirement by the
Board of Adjustment.
