Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for a certificate of appropriateness to allow the demolition of a residential structure and the construction of a replacement house FILE: CA-1464 STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends approval. Janett Lewis, City of Beaumont Housing Manager, has requested a certificate of appropriateness to allow the demolition of a residential th structure at 1019 N. 5 St. and construction of a new house on the subject property. Joe Warren, the property owner, is enrolled in the Rita Repair Program for storm damage done to his house in 2005. The new 1,006 sq. ft. house will be wood-framed. Hardi-plank siding, with a 7" profile, will be installed. The house will be painted white. Windows will be white vinyl with multi-lights. The roof will be covered in A weatherwood @ 3-tab shingles. The existing house is listed in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont survey. The house was built c. 1925 and is of the National Folk style. It is an example of middle class housing built in Beaumont in the 1920's. Exhibit is attached.
