Leonardo Torres has applied for a certificate of appropriateness to allow the replacement of a concrete tile roof with a three-tab asphalt shingles. The house is located at 2234 Liberty. The new shingles will be A hickory red and black @ in color. Mr. Torres states that he is unable to get concrete tile shingles that would match the existing roof. The house is listed in the 1989 SPARE Beaumont survey. SPARE states that the house was built c. 1925 and is of the Craftsman style. The house is representative of middle class housing built in Beaumont after the second Spindletop boom. Exhibit is attached.
