STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval of all the work except
for the windows along the front and side facades.
Miguel Martinez and Aurora Angeles have applied for a certificate of
appropriateness to allow an addition and the installation of new
windows and siding to an existing house. The house is located at
1950 Long.
The work to be done to the house will include constructing a 33' x 43'
addition onto the rear of the structure. The addition will include a
studio, storage, exercise room, restroom, laundry room and master
bedroom. The addition=s roof will be gabled and shingled with an
architectural shingle to match the roof on the rest of the house. The
siding on the existing structure and the addition will be hardiplank
with an approximate plank width appearance of 6 2". Mr. Martinez
states that he would like to replace the existing front door with a
fiberglass door. In addition, all the windows would be replaced with
double-pane, six light (top and bottom) white vinyl windows.
The Planning Manager recommends approval of all the proposed work
except for the windows on the front and side facades. The current
windows are two-over-two sash windows. The Planning Manager
feels that these particular windows are the most interesting feature of
the house and should be preserved on the front and side facades.
