STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval.
Pam Loiacano, City of Beaumont Demolition Coordinator, has applied
for a certificate of appropriateness to allow the demolition of a house
at 2280 Laurel.
Ms. Loiacano states the structure was inspected and found to be in
violation of the City of Beaumont Code of Ordinances pertaining to
dangerous structures. The structure was tagged as substandard on
August 13, 2008. The structure has 50% or more damage to
non-supporting members and 33% or more damage to supporting
members. Ms. Loiacano states that the structure is suitable for
rehabilitation.
In March, 2008, the Historic Landmark Commission approved a
certificate of appropriateness to allow the replacement of the tile roof.
No work program has been initiated.
The structure is listed in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont survey. The
house was built c. 1925 and is of the Craftsman style. It is an
example of middle class housing built in Beaumont in the 1920's.
Exhibits are attached.
