Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for a certificate of appropriateness to allow the demolition of a structure FILE: CA-1586 STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends approval. Pam Loiacano, City of Beaumont Demolition Coordinator, has applied for a certificate of appropriateness to allow the demolition of a residential structure at 2260 Broadway. Ms. Loiacano states that the structure was inspected and found to be in violation of the City of Beaumont Code of Ordinances pertaining to dangerous structures. The structure was tagged as substandard on July 31, 2007. No work program has been initiated to make repairs to the property. The structure has 50% or more damage to non-supporting members. The house has been judged substandard. The structure is listed in the 1989 SPARE Beaumont Survey. SPARE states that the house was built c. 1905 and is of the Queen Anne style. The house is typical of middle class housing built in Beaumont after the first Spindletop boom. Exhibits are attached.
