HomeMy WebLinkAboutCA-1582 DATE: February 9, 2009 TO: Historic Landmark Commission FROM: Stephen C. Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for a certificate of appropriateness to allow the replacement of windows, siding and roof FILE: CA-1582 STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends denial of the windows and approval of the siding and roof. Calixtro Linares has applied for a certificate of appropriateness to allow the replacement of windows, siding and a roof. The property is located at 2195 Evalon. Mr. Linares states that the windows on the house suffered hurricane damage. The original wood frame windows are one over one pane. The replacement windows are six over six pane bronze aluminum frame. The Historic District regulations state that the frames of windows should be trimmed in a manner typical of the style of the building. The Planning Manager questions whether the bronze frames are appropriate with the style of the house. Typically, the Historic Landmark Commission has denied bronze frames. Mr. Linares is also installing hardie plank. The house originally had asbestos siding. He is installing what appears to be 8" planks with a 2" overhang. The house is not listed in the SPARE Beaumont Survey.
