STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval.
Ralph and Virginia Jordan have made a request for a certificate of
appropriateness to allow the replacement of a concrete tile roof with
architectural asphalt shingles with concrete ridges. The property is
located at 2145 Hazel.
Mr. Jordan states that it has become difficult and expensive to find
and replace the concrete tile shingles. The replacement shingles will
be Owens Corning Berkshire-Concord variety.
The house is listed in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont Survey. The house
was constructed c. 1915 and is of the Italian Renaissance style. The
house is an example of upper class housing built in Beaumont after the
first Spindletop boom.
