SUBJECT: Request for a certificate of appropriateness to allow a metal
carport and metal storage building
FILE: CA-1817
STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends denial of the carport and
approval of the storage building subject to the following condition:
1. The storage building must be completely screened from any
abutting street.
Kendall and Brenda Simien have applied for a certificate of
appropriateness to allow a metal carport and a metal storage
building in the rear yard of the property located at 2495
Angelina. The carport was installed without a building permit
and both the carport and storage building were installed without
any certificates of appropriateness.
The Historic District regulations state that pre-fabricated
metal accessory buildings are permitted if they are completely
screened from view of any abutting street. While the carport
would be considered a pre-fabricated metal accessory building,
it cannot be completely screened from the street without a
minimum 10' tall screening fence and a 10' tall gate across
the driveway.
Exhibit is attached.
