Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for a certificate of appropriateness to allow a 6' to 8' high chain link fence in the front yard FILE: CA-1782 STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends denial. Leticia Torres has applied for a certificate of appropriateness to allow a 6' to 8' high chain link fence in the front yard of her house at 1224 Hazel. Ms. Torres is going to fence her rear yard with a 6-8 foot wood fence. The purpose of the chain link fence is to keep people from crossing her yard. Sec. 30-21.2 of the Zoning Ordinance states that chain link, barbed and razor wire fences are permitted only in back yards and must not be visible from abutting streets. The subject property is known as the Crary/Anderson House and was built c. 1900. The house received a City of Beaumont Historic Designation in 1987.
