STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval.
Pam Loiacano, City of Beaumont Demolition Coordinator, has applied
for a certificate of appropriateness to allow the demolition of two
structures at 1052 McFaddin and 1052 McFaddin Rear.
Ms. Loiacano states that the structures were inspected and found to be
in violation of the City of Beaumont Code of Ordinances pertaining to
unsafe structures. The structures were tagged on March 22, 2011.
Glenn Byrd, the property owner, has signed a demolition consent
form to demolish the structures.
The main house is listed in the 1989 SPARE Beaumont Survey.
SPARE states that the A Byrd House @ was built c. 1910 and is of the
Neoclassical style. The house is an example of a larger home built by
the middle class after the first Spindletop boom. In 1983, the house
was designated a City of Beaumont Historic Cultural Landmark by
City Council.
