driveway was denied by the Historic Landmark
Commission on November 5, 2012.
STAFF REPORT
Ricky Pinkston, the property owner, has requested a certificate of
appropriateness to allow the construction of a 10'x62' concrete
driveway on the west side of the front yard. The property is located
at 2105 South.
Mr. Pinkston called the Planning Manager the last week of November
to inquire why his certificate of appropriateness was denied. He
explained that he wanted the driveway for safety reasons. The
Planning Manager questioned why he was not at the meeting to
explain this to the Historic Landmark Commission. Mr. Pinkston
stated that he was unaware that he was supposed to attend.
Therefore, the Planning Manager stated that he would place
CA-2210 back on the agenda.
On October 16, 2012, Mr. Pinkston was granted permission to
extend the sidewalk to the curb. An existing garage and driveway
are located behind the house. He would like to construct the new
driveway so he would be able to park and enter the front of the house.
th
Because Mr. Pinkston has access to the rear yard by way of 5 Street,
the Planning Manager recommends denial of the request. This
proposed driveway would allow parking in the front yard.
