HomeMy WebLinkAboutCA-2341 DATE: January 13, 2013 TO: Historic Landmark Commission FROM: Adina Ward, Planner II SUBJECT: Request for a certificate of appropriateness to remove or replace brick siding. FILE: CA-2341 STAFF REPORT Staff recommends approval of replacing the brick with a product similar in appearance. Ernest Albert Wood has applied for a certificate of appropriateness to allow the removal or replacement of the brick siding on the first floor of the property located at 2650 North Street. Mr. Woods would like to completely remove the brick and replace it with a siding that would be similar to houses in the vicinity. Shiplap siding with a 3-4” reveal is typical of houses in the area. The existing siding was never anchored to the structure properly and is pulling away. Attempting to save the existing brick would be very costly and tedious, and would most likely need to be supplemented due to broken, cracked or crumbling bricks. The house is listed in the 1991 SPARE Beaumont Survey. SPARE states the house was built c. 1925 and is of the Prairie style. Exhibits are attached.
