STAFF REPORT
Boyd Meier, Deputy Building Official, has applied for a certificate of appropriateness to
allow the demolition of a residential structure located at 2255 Rusk St.
Mr. Meier states that the structure was tagged on January 14, 2013. In an August 9, 2012
letter sent to the property owner, it is stated that the house is in a state of deterioration
that is in violation of the Unsafe Substandard Structures Ordinance, Chapter 24 of the
Code of Ordinances. The inspection report states further that the structure is open and
accessible and is being vandalized.
The house is listed in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont Survey. SPARE states that the house
was built c. 1928 and is of the Craftsman style. The house is a fine example of Craftsman
style houses built in Beaumont in the 1920's and the 1930's.
Exhibits are attached.
