HomeMy WebLinkAboutCA-2436 DATE: November 10, 2014 TO: Historic Landmark Commission FROM: Adina Ward, Planner II SUBJECT: Request for a certificate of appropriateness to widen a driveway in front of a house. FILE: CA-2436 STAFF REPORT Staff recommends denial of the request. Jose L Perez applied for a (CA) Certificate of Appropriateness for his house at 2240 Pecos, on June 30, 2014. Discussion included leveling of the structure, fencing, paint and paving. The CA spelled out in detail that the driveway should be a minimum of two (2) feet from the property line and would be at most fifteen (15) feet wide, a copy is attached. Mr. Perez claimed to understand when it was stressed that he could not pave the area between the driveway and the front walkway (the area in front of the house). He has stated that he was out of town when his crew constructed the driveway, adding a parking place in front of the house. The house is listed in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont Survey. SPARE states that the house was built c. 1922. The house is listed as a fine example of middle class housing built in the 1920s and 1930s in Beaumont, and is Vernacular Craftsman in style. Exhibits are attached.
