STAFF REPORT
Boyd Meier, Building Official, has applied for a certificate of appropriateness to allow
the demolition of a residential structure located at 1792 Hazel Avenue.
Mr. Meier states that the structure was tagged on August 7, 2014. The inspection report
indicates the structure has suffered fire damage to the exterior and interior. Based on the
extensive repairs needed, staff is recommending the structure be demolished. All
electrical wiring, electrical fixtures, plumbing and plumbing fixtures would need to be
replaced.
The house is listed in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont Survey. SPARE states that the house
was built c. 1919. The house is listed as a rare example of Dutch Colonial Revival
architecture built after the first Spindletop boom.
