HomeMy WebLinkAboutCA-2418 DATE: September 8, 2014 TO: Historic Landmark Commission FROM: Adina Ward, Planner II SUBJECT: Request for a certificate of appropriateness to allow replacement of windows. FILE: CA-2418 STAFF REPORT Staff recommends approval subject to the following conditions: 1. The replacement windows will be the same size as the existing windows. Helen Ingram and Maurice Newman recently purchased the property without the benefit of a title company, and began replacing windows. They have now applied for a certificate of appropriateness to allow the replacement of windows on the house at 2095 North Street. The house previously had eight (8) over one (1) and ten (10) over one (1) windows. The windows being used to replace these windows are one (1) over one (1). Mr. Newman states that identical windows could not be located. The house is listed in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont Survey. SPARE states that the house was built c. 1915. The house is listed as a fine example of middle class housing built in Beaumont after the first Spindletop boom, and is of the Craftsman style. Exhibits are attached.
