HomeMy WebLinkAboutCA-2570 DATE: November 9, 2015 TO: Historic Landmark Commission FROM: Adina Ward, Planner II SUBJECT: Request for a certificate of appropriateness to build a wooden porch and reconstruct brick steps with wooden railings to match original in front of new wood porch. FILE: CA-2570 STAFF REPORT Staff recommends approval of the request. David Bradley, on behalf of Daryl Prejean, is requesting permission to create a front porch at 2245 Ashley, by building a wood platform over the existing steps. As is common with houses built in this era, the steps lead directly to the door with no landing. This new porch would match the existing posts and roof line. Mr. Bradley would then construct stairs to match the existing stairs in front of the new porch. Wood railings to match the original railings would be installed alongside the stairs. The house is listed in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont Survey. SPARE states that the house was built c. 1938. The house is listed as an example of middle class housing built in Beaumont in the 1930's. Exhibits are attached.
