SUBJECT: Request for a certificate of appropriateness to allow a sheet metal storage building
in the rear yard.
FILE: CA-2527
STAFF REPORT
Staff recommends denial of the request.
Isaias Torres would like to construct a 12'x12' storage building in his rear yard at 2030 Ashley
Avenue. The roof would be flat and the siding would be sheet metal.
Mr. Torres' property is located at the corner of Ashley Avenue and 1st Street. The proposed
storage building would be completely visible from 1st Street.
The City of Beaumont Ordinance states, " Accessory buildings are only permitted in the rear
yard and the interior side yard and must be compatible with the scale, shape, roof form,
materials, detailing, and color of the main building. Accessory buildings must have pitched
roofs. Prefabricated metal accessory buildings are permitted if they are completely screened from
view from any abutting street." The structure will meet none of the requirements.
The property is not listed in SPARE.
Exhibits are attached.
