HISTORIC LANDMARK COMMISSION

A Regular Meeting of the Historic Landmark Commission was held on December 9, 2019 and
called to order at 3:40 p.m. with the following members present:

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Makin made a motion to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting held on
November 4, 2019. Commissioner Sigee seconded the motion. Motion to approve carried
7:0.
REGULAR MEETING
1) CA-3148: Request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to install solar panels on a roof.
Applicant: Ramon Reyna
Location: 2250 Long Street
Miss Laney presented the staff report. Ramon Reyna seeks permission to add solar panels to
the south side of his home located at 2250 Long Street. Mr. Reyna plans to attach the panels
to the roof of his home. The placement of the panels will be visible facing toward the street
right-of-way. With permission, there will be thirty-one (31) panels installed on the roof

toward the front side of the home. The contractor has provided a visual design concept for
the exact placement of the solar panels on the roof.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation appears to be in favor of solar panels, given that
they are not visible from the street.
Staff recommends approval of the solar panels being placed on the rear side of the roof,
where they will not be seen from the street right-of-way.
The house is not listed in the SPARE survey.
Slides were shown of the subject property. The applicant was not present, however, the
contractor for Sunpro, Victor Hidalgo, was available to answer questions. Brief discussion
followed regarding the possibility of placement options of the panels. Commissioner Sigee
made a motion to deny the request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to install solar panels
on a roof as requested for CA-3148. Commissioner Makin seconded the motion. Motion to
approve carried 7:0.
2) Historic District Code Enforcement Report
Mrs. Luckey presented the Historic District Code Enforcement Report.
