WHEREAS, the State and Federal Government have made funds avail-
able under the Urban System for improvements to high priority eligible
projects; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council,proposed a bond issue on October 1,
1974, which was to provide local ,funding for joint state projects; and,
WHEREAS, the citizens of Beaumont did vote overwhelmingly (3-1)
for the projects as proposed by the City Council; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to go on record indicating the
priority of the projects included in the bond issue involving Urban Funds;
1. Orleans -Pearl Crossover;
2. Riverfront Blvd. (Main Street);
3. CBD Signal System'(70 Intersections);
4. Blanchette Street
NOW,. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Council hereby requests the Highway Commission to consider
the above list of projects in that.order as the highest priority projects
for the second and third years funding from the Urban System funds as
provided in the 1973 Federal Aid Highway Act; and,
THAT the City Council reiterates -its commitment of September 20, 1974,
that the highest priority of the City of the City of Beaumont after
these projects are completed will be the Lamar Freeway (Spur 380 Exten-
tion) .
