A RES OLUTION
WHEREAS, the voters of the City of Beaumont have
authorized the City to purchase the assets of the existing
Beaumont City Lines, Inc.; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont desires to seek financial
assistance from the Urban Mass Transportation Administration,
pursuant to the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as
amended; and,
WHEREAS, a public hearing is necessary under the re-
quirements of said Act;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That a public hearing will be held by the City of Beaumont at
the Beaumont City Council Chambers at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday,
September 12, 1972, for the purpose of considering this project;
and said public hearing being held in accordance with the re-
quirements of the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as
amended, and resolved further that a notice of public hearing
shall be promulgated by the City, said notice to read as follows:
"NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
1) Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will
be held by the City of Beaumont at the Beaumont City Council
Chambers at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 12, 1972, for the
purpose of considering a project for which 2/3 financial
assistance is being sought from the Urban Mass Transportation
Administration, pursuant to the Urban Mass Transportation Act
of 1964, as amended, generally described as follows:
a. Description of Project
1. The purpose of the Grantwill be to purchase
the existing Beaumont City Lines, Inc. and
all their assets, purchase of six (6)
new forty-five (45) passenger air-conditioned
diesel buses, purchase seven (7) used forty-
five (45) passenger.air-conditioned diesel
buses, purchase a service vehicle and special
tools;
2. The Beaumont City Lines, Inc. property is
located on the southeast corner of Milam
and Archie.Streets in Beaumont, Jefferson
County, Texas;
3. Estimated cost of the project is ----
Federal Share 2/3 ------------------- $283,933.00
Local Share 1/3 --------------------- 141,967.00
Total $425,900.00
The local share shall come from the City of
Beaumont general funds.
b. Relocation
No persons, families or businesses will be dis-
placed by this project.
C. Environment
The environmental impact upon the urban area will
remain at not more than the existing level.
d. Comprehensive Planning
Project is in conformance with comprehensive
land use and transportation planning in this
area. The project has been reviewed and approved
by the South East Texas Regional Planning
Commission and the Division of Planning Coordina-
tion of the State of Texas.
e. Elderly and Handicapped
Special consideration will be given the elderly

bus specifications will require special light-
ing in the step wells and exterior lights which
will illuminate the curb area near the front and
rear doors of the bus. Grip handles will be
required on each side of the doors to aid in
boarding and alighting.
2) At the hearing the City of Beaumont will afford an
opportunity for interested persons or agencies to be heard with
respect to the social, economic, and environmental aspects of the
project. Interested persons may submit orally or in writing,
evidence and recommendations with respect to said project
3) A copy of the application for a Federal Grant for
the proposed project, together with an environmental analysis
and the transit development plan for the area, is currently
available for public inspection in the Clerk's office at City
Hall."
PASSED by the City Council this the 877Y- day of
