Entitled an ordinance amending Section 5 of an ordinance passed
by the City Commission of the City of Beaumont on the 19th day of October
1926, so as to change the rate of taxation therein levied for Sewerage
Bonds to $.04�e instead of $.039'; for City Hall and Auditorium Bonds from
$ .049� to X5.059' and Eire Department Bonds from $.02� to 6.0.39, said Or-
dinance hereby amended being entitled: "'An Ordinance Authorizing.and di-
recting'the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beaumont, bearing in-
terest at the rate of five percent (5f.). per annum., interest on all bonds
payable -annually on the first year and semi-annually on each year there-
after, in the sum of $325,000.00 to be issued for the purpose of improv-
ing,. extending and repairing streets and highways of the City of Beau-
mont, providing for the levying and collecting of the necessary taxes to:
pay the interest and create a sinking fund for the redemption- of- -said
bonds, and further authorizing and directing the issuance of serial bonds
of the City of Beaumont, bearing interest at the rate of 5% per annu�,Ain-
terest payable annually on the first year and semi-annually on each year
thereafter, in the sum of. .$250,000.00 to. be issued for the purpose of im-
proving., extending and repairing the sewerage system of the City of Beau-
mont, providing for the levying and collecting of the necessary taxes to
pay the interest and create a sinking fund for the redemption of said
bonds, and further authorizing and directing the issuance of serial bonds
of the City of Beaumont, bearing interest at the rate -of 5% per annum, in-
terest payable annually on the first year and semi-annually on each year,
thereafter, in the sum of'$300,000.00 to be issued for the purpose of
building and equiang a combined City Hall and City Auditorium of the,
City of .Beaumont, providing for the levying and collecting of -the nec-
essary taxes to pay the interest and create a sinking fund for the re-
demption of said bonds, and further authorizing and directing the_is-
suance of serial bonds of the City of Beaumont, bearing interest at the
rate of 5% per annum, interest payable annually on the first year and
semi-annually on each year thereafter, in the sum of $100,000.00 to be
issued for the purpose of building and equMerefor,
ing a combined police station
and jail and acquiring the necessary site providing for the
-1_evyi-ng and collecting of the necessary taxes to pay the interest and
create a sinking fund for the redemption of said bonds, and further au-
thorizing and directing the issuance of serial bonds of the City of
Beaumont, bearing interest at the rate of 5Z per annum, interest pay-
able annually on the first year and semi-annually on each year there-
afteri in the sum of $150,000.00 to be issued for the purpose of build-
ing and equipIng fire stations and acquiring the necessary sites there-
for, providing for the levying and collecting of the necessary taxes to
pay the interest and create a sinking fund for the .redemption of said
bonds, and further authorizing and directing the issuance of serial
bonds of the City of Beaumont, bearing interest at the rate of 5% per
annum, interest payable annually on the first year and semi-annually
on each year thereafter, in the sum of 0100,000.00 to be issued for the
purpose of improving, extending, and equipping public parks and acquir=
ing the necessary sites therefor, providing for the levying and collect-
ing of the necessary taxes to pay the interest and create a. sinking fund
for the redemption of said bonds, and further authorizing and directing
the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beaumont, bearing interest
at the rate of %, per annum, interest payable annually on the first year
and semi-annually on each year thereafter, in the sum of $25,000.00 to:
be issued for the purpose'of repairing, improving, and-equifping the City
Market House, and providing that said ordinance shall take effect on
the date of its passage and lawful publication, and declaring an emer-
gency," and decliring an emergency.
WHEREAS, 6n_the'19th day of October, 192.6, the City Commission
of the City of Beaumont passed the above entitled ordinance authorizing
the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beaumont for various perma-
nent improvements therein mentioned; and

NOVV; THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE CITY COMIIJUSS1ON
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
SECTION I.
That Section 5 of the above mentioned ordinance passed by the
City Commission of the City of Beaumont on the 19th day of October, 1926,
authorizing and directing the issuance of serial bonds of the City of
Beaumont as therein described, be and the same is hereby amended so that
the same shall read as follows:
SECTION 5.
It is further ordained that for the purpose of paying the
interest on said Street and Highway Bonds, as well as the various in—
sta.11ments of principal as the same shall respectively mature, there
is hereby levied for the year 1927, and for --each year thereafter-, so
long as the same may be necessary to provide the interest and annual in—
stallments of principal of said bonds, on all of the property in the City
of Beaumont subject to taxation, an additional tax of Five Cents ($.05) on
each One Hundred Dollars valuation of all taxable property within the City
of Beaumont, or so much thereof or such other rate of tax as shall be nec—
essary and the same shall be so annually assessed, collected and applied,
and said tai{, or so much thereof or such other tax as may be necessary is
hereby levied for each year hereafter while said bonds or any number there—
of are outstanding, and the same shall be annually assessed, collected and
applied to the purpose named.
It is further ordained that for the purpose of paying the in—_ _
terest on said Sewerage Bonds, as well as the various installments of
principal as the same shall respectively mature, there is hereby levied
for the year 1927, and for each year thereafter, so long as the same may
be necessary to provide the interest and annual installments of principal
of said bonds, on all of the property in the City of Beaumont subject to
taxation, an additional tax of Four Cents ($.04) on each One Hundred Dol—
lars valuation of all taxable property within the City of Beaumont, or so
much thereof or such other rate of tax as shall be necessary and the same
shall be so annually assessed, collected and applied, and said tax, or so
much thereof or such other tax as may be necessary is hereby levied for
each year hereafter while said bonds or any number thereof are outstand—
ing and the same shall be annually assessed, collected and applied to the
purpose named.
It is further ordained that for the purpose of paying the in—
terest on said City Hall and City Auditorium Bonds, as well as the various
installments of principal as the same shall respectively mature, there is
hereby levied for the year 1927, and for each year thereafter, so long
as the same may be necessary to provide the interest and annual install—
ments of principal of said bonds, on all of the_pr6perty in the City of
Beaumont subject to taxation, an additional tax of Five Cents ($.05) on.
each One Hundred Dollars valuation of all taxable property within the
City of Beaumont, or so much thereof or such other rate of tax as shall
be necessary and the same shall be so annually assessed, collected and
applied, and said tax, or so much thereof or such other tax as may be
necessary is hereby levied for each year hereafter while said bonds or
any number thereof are outstanding, and the same shall be annually assess—
ed, collected and applied to the purpose named.,

necessary is hereby levied for each year hereafter while said bonds or
any number thereof are outstanding, and the same shall be annually assess—
ed, collected and applied to the purpose named,.
It is further ordained that for the purpose of paying the in—
terest on said Fire Department Bonds, as well as the various installments
of principal as the same shall respectively mature, there is hereby levied
for the year 1927, and for each year thereafter, so long as the seine may
be necessary to provide the interest and annual installments of principle
of said bonds, on all of theproperty in the City of Beaumont subject to
taxation, an additional tax of Three Cents ($.03) on each One Hundred
Dollars valuation of all taxable property within the City of Beaumont,
or so much thereof or such other rate of tax as shall be necessary and
the same shall be so annually assessed, collected and applied, and said
tax, or so much thereof or such other tax as may be necessary is hereby
levied for each year hereafter while said bonds or any number thereof
are outstanding, and the same shall be annually assessed, collected and
applied to the purpose named.
It is further ordained that for the purpose of paying the in—
terest on said Public Park Bonds, as well as the various installments of
principal as the same shall respectively mature, there is hereby levied
for the year 192.7 and for each year thereafter so long as the same may
be necessary.to provide the interest and annual installments of princi—
pal of said bonds, on all of the property in the City of Beaumont sub—
ject to taxation, an additional tax of One and one—half Cents ($.012) on
each One Hundred Dollars valuation of all taxable property within the
City of Beaumont, or so much thereof or such other rate of tax as shall
be necessary and the same shall be so annually assessed, collected and
applied, and said tax, or so much thereof or such other tax a.s may be
necessary is hereby levied for each year hereafter while said bonds or
any number thereof are outstanding,and the same shall be annually assess—
ed, collected and applied to the purpose namedi.
It is further ordained that for the purpose of paying the in—
terest on said Market House'Bonds, as well as the various installments of
principal as the same shall respectively mature, there is hereby levied
for the year 1929',i, and for each year thereafter, so long as the same
may be necessary to provide the interest and annual installments of-prin—
cipal of said bonds, on all of the property in the City of Beaumont sub—
ject to taxation, an additional tax of One—half Cent ($.02) on each One
Hundred Dollars valuation of all taxable property within the City of
Beaumont, or so much thereof or such other rate of tax as shall be nec—
essary and the same shall be so annually assessed, collected and applied,
and said tax, or so much thereof or such other tax as may be necessary
is hereby levied for each year hereafter while said bonds or any number
thereof are outstanding, and the same shall be annually assessed, col—
lected and applied to the, purpose named.
All ordinances and parts of ordinances and all resolutionsv.nd
parts of r.(§�solut_io_gs inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance
are hereby rescinded and repealed.
SECTION 2.
The fact that the streets and highways of the City of Beaumont

and resultant stagnation which is injurious to the health and lives of
the people of the City of Beaumont; and the City is without a City Hall
and City Auditorium, which is badly needed for the convenience of the
people of the City of Beaumont; and the City is without adequate police
station and jail, and it is necessary to have an adequate police station
and jail to protect the lives of the people of the City of Beaumont; and
it is necessary to construct additional fire stations in order to pro—
ted:t the people of the City of Beaumont from fire hazards; and the public
parks and equipment therein arewholly inadequate to provide the proper-
recreation,
roper
recreation, amusement and training of the children that frequent such
parkas, resulting in. improper kind of recreation, amusement and training
for such children each and all of which conditions create an imperative
public emergency requiring the suspension of the rule requiring ordinances
to be read on three. separate days before their passage, and said rule is
hereby suspended and this ordinance shall take effect from and after the
date of its passage.
Passed this, the 9th day of November, A.D. 1926, by the affirma—
tive vote of all members of the City Commission of the City of Beaumont.
