AN ORDINANCE
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD IN
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT BONDS OF
SAID CITY SHALL BE ISSUED FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPROVING,
EXTENDING AND REPAIRING THE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT; FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPROVING, EXTENDING
AND REPAIRING THE SEWERAGE SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT;
FOR THE IMPROVEMENT AND EXTENSION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF
PUBLIC SAFETY, INCLUDING FIRE ALARM SYSTEM, POLICE TELEPHONE
AND TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM, AND GENERAL IMPROVEMENT AND RE-
PAIR OF BUILDINGS AND EQUIPMENT, AND PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT;
FOR THE IMPROVEMENT AND EXTENSION OF PUBLIC PARKS AND THE
PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT FOR SAME; AND FOR THE PURCHASE OF
MAGNOLIA BASE BALL PARK SITE; NAMING THE TIME AND PLACE OF
HOLDING SAID ELECTION AND APPOINTING OFFICERS THEREOF, AND
PROVIDING FOR THE MANNER OF HOLDING SAID ELECTION AND GIVING
NOTICES THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
i
That an election shall be held in the City of Beaumont on the 12th
day of December, 1925, at which election the following propositions
shall be submitted.
Section 2.
Shall the City Commission of the City of Beaumont be authorized
to issue serial bonds of said City for the following purposes and in
the following amounts;
For the purpose of improving, extending and
repairing streets and highways of the City
of Beaumont . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 400, 000.00
For the purpose of improving, extending and
repairing the sewerage system of the City
of Beaumont . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 200,000.00
For the improvement and extension of the De-
partment of Public Safety, including fire
alarm system, police telephone and traffic
signal system, and general improvement find
repair of buildings and equipment and pur-
chase of equipment . . . . . . . . . . . . . 100,000.00
For the improvement and extension of public
parks and the purchase of equipment for same 50,900.00
For the purchase of Magnolia Base Ball Park
Site . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 500-000.00
The said bonds to be payable in forty (40) annual installments
as follows:
9,000.00 each year for the first ten years.
16,000.00 each year for the second ten years.

Section 3.
The said election shall be held at the following places, towit:
In the First Ward at the Central Fire Station, French
School Building and Gladys Street Fire Station.
In the Second Ward at the City Hall.
In the Third Ward at the Jefferson County Court House,
Sabine Pass Fire Station, and the South Park
Elementary School Building.
Section 4.
The following named persons are appointed presiding judges of
their respective voting boxes, with the authority to select and
appoint their own clerks.
At the Central Fire Station, C. A. Ganoung...

At the Gladys Street F ire Station, George Morgan.
At the City Hall, J. A. Morris.
At the Jefferson County Court House, 0. A. Ernest.
At the Sabine Pass Fire Station, C. L. Scherer.
At the South Park Elementary School Building, T. A. Allen.
Section 5.
The question as to whether the City Commission shall be authorized
to issue said bonds shall be submitted in Five Propositions, and there
shall be printed on the ballot used in said election, the following:
FIRST PROPOSITION
For the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beaumont
in the sum of $400,000,00 for the purpose of improving,
extending and repairing streets and highways of the City
of Beaumont.
Against the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beau-
mont in the sum of $400,000.00 for the purpose of improv-
ing, extending and repairing streets and highways of the
City of Beaumont.
SECOND PROPOSITION
For the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beaumont
in the sum of $2001000.00 for the purpose of improving,
extending and repairing the sewerage system of the City
of Beaumont.
Against the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beau-
mont in the sum of $200,000.00 for the purpose of
improving, extending and repairing the sewerage system
of the City of Beaumont.
THIRD PROPOSITION
For the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beaumont
in -the sum of $100,000.00 for the improv6ment and extension
of the Denartment of Public Safetv. Inaludin¢ fire alarm

Against the issuance of serial bonds of the City of
Beaumont in the sum of $100,000.00 for the improve-
ment and extension of the Department of Public Safety,
including fire alarm system, police telephone and
traffic signal system and general improvement and re-
pair of buildings and equipment and purchase of
equipment.
FOURTH PROPOS[ TION
For the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beau-
mont in the sum of $50,000.00 for the improvement and
extension of public parks and the pufchase of equipment
for same.
Against the issuance of serial bonds of the City of
Beaumont in the sum of $50,000.00 for the improvement
and extension of public parks and the purchase of
equipment for same.
FIFTH PROPOSITION
For the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beaumont
in the sum of $50,000.00 for the purchase of Magnolia
Base Ball Park Site.
Against the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beau-
mont in the sum of $50,000.00 for the purchase of Magnolia
Base Ball Park Site.
And all voters desiring to support the proposition to issue said
bonds shall run a line through or across that section of each proposi-
tion reading on the ballot beginning with the words 'Against the issu-
ance of serial bonds". All voters desiring to vote against the propo-
sition to issue said bonds shall run a line through or across that
section of each proposition printed on the ballot beginning with the
words "For the issuance of serial bonds".
Section 6.
Said election shall be held under the provisions of the State
Law governing elections and only qualified voters who pay taxes on
property in the City of Beaumont shall be allowed to vote at said
election.
Section 7.
A copy of this ordinance signed by the Mayor of the City of Beau-
mont and attested by the City Clerk of the City of Beaumont shall serve
as proper and sufficient notice of said election and the Mayor is hereby
directed to cause one each of said notices to be posted at each of the
places designated for holding said election at least thirty days prior
to the date of holding said election, and the person posting said notices
shall make a return on a copy thereof, showing the time and place of
said posting, which return shall be filed in the office of the City
Clerk and shall be conclusive evidence of the posting of said notice,
and a copy of this ordinance shall be published once each week for a
period of thirty days before the day of holding said election in a
newspaper of general circulation which has been continuously and
regularly published in the City of Beaumont for a period of one year
prior to this date.

And all voters desiring to support the proposition to issue
said bonds shall run a line through or across that section of each
proposition reading on the ballot beginning with the words "Against
the issuance of serial bonds". All voters desiring to vote against
the proposition to issue said bonds shall run a line through or
across that section of each proposition printed on the ballot
beginning with the words "For the issuance of serial bonds."
Section 6.
Said election shall be held under the provisions of the
State law governing elections and only qualified voters who pay
taxes on property in the City of Beaumont shall be allowed to vote
at said election.
