Entitled an Ordinance ordering:.an election to .be held
in the City of Beaumonta to determim whether or: not: bonds of
said City shall_ be issued fom the purpose of improving and
extending the- streets .and hig:hways of the City of Beaumont,
and for the, purpose of improving' and extending the: municipal
wharf and dock facilities, including wharf terminals,. docks,
warehouses, elevators, loading and unloading devices, terminal
railways incident to said wharves and docks, and general im-
provement and extension of said municipal water frontage
facilities., and for the payment, of not more than thirty per-
cent (30%) of thecost of the construction of that portion of
a, grade separation structure in the.; form of a viaduct with
approaches thereto, west of the west bank of the Neches river
in the City of 3eaumont where the railroad 'tracks of the
Texas & New Orleans Railway Company c-roswos what is Down as

holding said election and appointing officers thereof, and
providing for the manner of holding, ,said election and .giving
notices thereof:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OY THE CITY
OF BliATTlMNT.
Sec -tion I*'
That an election shall, be held in the City a€" B em mont
on the 28th day of February, 1925, at which election the fol-
lowing pr_a.•posi.tions shall be submitted:
Section II.',
Shall the City Commission of the City of Beaumont be
authorized to issue serial bonds of said city for the. following
purposes and in the fallowing amounts;
For the purpose of improving and extending
streets and highways of the City of Beatmont. ; 41501000600
For the purpose of improving and extending
the municipal wharf mad dock facilities,
including wharf terminals, docks, warehouses,
elevators, loading end unloading devices, ter-
minal railways incident to said wharves axed
docks, and the general improvement and extension
of said municipal water frontage facilities . .$225.000.00
For the payment of not more than thirty per
cent. (30jo) of the cost of the constru.,ctton of

in the City of Beaumont where the railroad
tracks of the Texas & New Orleans Railway
Comp any cross what is known as Orleans;
Crockett, Pearl, Main, Travis and Cypress
Streets in. the City of Beaumont, and for the
acquisition and purchase of` sites for commer-
cial tracks appurtenant thereto and for re-
pairing., improving,- paving and repaving street
approaches made necessary to be, repaired, im-
proved, paved and repaved, by reason of the
construction of said viaduct. . . . . . . : : .300,000.00
The said bonds to be payable in forty (40) annualinstall-
ments of �iQ Dollars each; bearing interest
at the rate of f ive liar cent (5c%") per annum; interest on all
bonds payable semi-annually and to levy a tax sufficient to
pay the interest on all of said bonds and create a sinking funcd_
sufficient to retire the same at maturity.
Section III.
The said election shall be held at the; following places;
to wit:
In the First Ward -at the Central Fare Station, French
School. Building and Gladys Street Fire Station.
In the. Secord Ward at the City Hall:
In the Third Ward at the Jefferson County Court House;
Sabine Pass Fire Station; and the South Para School Buildingei

The following named pe•:r,sons are appointed presiding judges
of their respective voting: boxes,, with the authority to ,select
and appoint their otim clerks; .

Section Ve
The question as to whether the City Commission shall be
said elect,ion;' the following:
FIRST PROPOSIMON
For the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beaumont
in the sum of X150,000.00 for, the purpose of improving
and extending streets anti highways of the City of
Beaumont.
Against the issuance of serial bonds of the City .of
Beaumont in the sum of JP,150;000.00 for the purpose of
improving and extending, streets and highways of the
City of Beaumont:
SECOND PROPOSITION.
For the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beaumont,
in the sum of y�225,000.00 for the purpose of improving
and extending the municipal wharf and dock facilities,
including wharf terminals, docks, warehouses, elevators,
loading and unloading devices, terminal railways incident
to.. said wharves and docks, and the general improvement
and extension of said municipal water frontage facilities.
Against the,. issuance of serial bonds of tln: City of'
Beaumont in the sum of 4225,000:00 for the purpose of
improving and extending the, municipal wharf and dock
facilities, including wharf terminals, docks, warehouses,
elevators; loading and unloading devices, terminal -railways
incident to said Wharves and docks, and the .general
i�rprovement and extension of said municipal water frontage
facilities.
THIRD PROPO S I TION
For the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beaumont
in the,. sum of 000,000.00 for the payment of not more
than thirty per cent (30%) of the cost of the construction
of that portion of a grade separation structure in the
form of a viaduct with approaches thereto, west of the
west bank of the Neches River in the City of Beaumont
where the railroad tracks of the Texas & New Orleans
Railway Company cross what is knows. as Orleans, Crockett;
Pearl, Ldain,- Travis and, Cypress Streets in the Citi of
Beaumont; and, for the acquisition and purchase of sites
for commercial tracks appurtenant thereto and for re-
pairing, improving, paving and,repaving street approaches
made nelcessary to be repaired, improved, paved and repaved,
by reason of the construction of said viaduct.
Against the issuance of serial bonds of ,the City of
Beaumont in the azm of X300, 00.0.00 for tom, payment of
not more than thirty` per cent (30) of the cost of: the
construction of that portion of a grade separation structure
in the form of a viaduct with approaches thereto, west of
the west bank of the Neches River in the City of Bemmont

And all voters desiring to support the proposition to
issue said bands shall run a line through or across that section
of each proposition reading on the ballot beginning with the
words 'Wgainst the issuance of serial bondsR'T, All voters
desiring to vote against the proposition to issue said bonds
shall run a line through w.- across that section of each proposition
printed on the ballot beginning with the words ."For the is suanc e

Section VI:
Said election shall be .held under the pro,vi.slons of the
State lav governing elections and only qualified voters who pay
taxes on property in the .City of Beaumont shall be allowed to
vote at said election:
Section VII,
A copy of this ordinance signed by the, jdayor of.' the, City
of Beaumont and attested by the City Clerk of the City of Beaumont
shall serve as proper amid sufficient notice of said election
and the Mayor is hereby directed to cause .one: each- of_.sa d`notices
to bei posted at each of the places deitagnated for holding .said
election at least thirty days prior to the date of holding said
election, and the person posting said notices shall make a
return on a copy thereof, showing the time and place of said
posting; which return shall be, .filed in the office of the City
Clerk and shall be conclusive evidence of the posting of said
notice, and a copy cf. this ordinance shall be published once
each week for, a period of three weeks before the day of holding
said election in a newspaper of general circulation which has
been continuously and regularly published in the City of Beaz.mont
