That there shad be and is hereby levied'. and shall be assessed.
and collected f ori/the year 1930 an ad valorem tax of Two and 55/100
Dollars (.$2;55) on each one hundred dollars worth of property in the
Dity of Beaumontf located within the territory comprising the old city
limits existing,%prior to the adoption of the present City Charter and
comprising the •Beaumont Independent School District in the City of
Beaumont; made, taxable by law which -said taxes when collected shall
be, according,, -to Section 16 of the Charter of the City of Beaumont
apportioned among the funds and departments of the City Government
of the City of Beaumont. and for the purposes hereinafter set forth;

That -there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed
and collected for the year 1930 a school maintenance, tax of 70�
on each $100;00 worth of property in the -territory taken into the
City of Beaumont. -for school purposes only, by the City Commission
of the City of Beaumont by, ordinance passed the 27th day of November,
.D• 1923; and there shall be and is hereby levied and -shall be
assessed and collected for the year. -1930 a tax of 25� .on. each $100;00
worth of said property to-tak6- care of the interest and sinking fund
on =the school bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont; said tax
is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected for said year on
all property -in the territory taken in by the City of Beaumont for
school purposes only; by an ordinance passed by the City Commission
of said City on the 27th'day of Novembers A.D; 1923' said territory
being -known as a portion of what is commonly called the French School
District;
Section 4:
That there shall be and is hereby levied and there shall be
collected on all occupations and callings on which an occupation
tax is levied by the State of Texasi a sum equal to one-half of
the amount so levied by the State -of Texas, on each -respective
occupation or calling in the City of Beaumont:
Section 5"
There being no Ordinance in effect ,levying the taxes for the
year 1930, and the taxes for said year will soon become due and
payable, an immediate public emergency exists, necessitating the
suspension of the rule requiring ordinances to be read on three
separate days before passage, wherefore, said rule is hereby suspended
and it is enacted that this Ordinance shall be -in full force and -
effect from and after its passage and signature of- the Mayor*"

That the tax of twenty-five cents ($,"25) on each $100,"00 valuation
of all taxable property within the old city _limits of the City of
Beaumont as such limits existed at the time of the adoption of the
present City Charter and that portion taken in in 1923 for school pur-
poses only, heretofore levied for interest and sinking fund accounts
on school bond indebtedness -for the Beaumont City Schools and ordered
collected by an ordinance passed on the 9th day of September, A.D. 1930,
be and the same is hereby apportioned among the various school bond
interest and sinking funds as follows:

That the City Tax Assessor and Collector is hereby instructed to
pro -rate the said suras so assessed according to the provisions of this
Ordinance, and to so present his statement and report to the Director
of Finance that said officer may be able to place all collections made
under said tax to the credit of the proper fund and that the same may
not be diverted or used for any other purposes`:
Section 4`;
The fact that no apportionment has been made of the assessments
levied to provide for the interest and sinking fund for the bonded
indebtedness of the City of Beaumont, creates an imperative public
emergency necessitate ng the suspension of the rule requiring ordinances
to be read at three separate meetings before their passage, wherefore,
said rule is suspended and this ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after its passage and signature of the Mayor':

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF TOE

revenue derived by taxation and from the income accruing to the
