Robert Kober, of Knife River Corp. -South, has requested the abandonment of an approximate
970 foot portion of the right-of-way of North 7t' Street located between Dollinger Road and the
Union Pacific Railway, north of Interstate Highway 10 East. Mr. Kober states that the
right-of-way being considered for abandonment has a history of flooding, deferred maintenance,
and accidents. Upon approval of this abandonment, Knife Rive Corp. -South intends to modify
the right-of-way by grading the site to ensure proper drainage. Mr. Kober says the area will
also be secured with fencing and gates. Abandonment of this portion of 7ffiStreet will eliminate
public access to a north -south connector from Dollinger Road to Interstate Highway 10 East.

Subj: Application for Right of Way Abandonment 7th Street
Knife River Corporation — South would like to thank of the City of Beaumont in advance for your consideration
in this matter.
As you are all aware, the area of 7th street that is being considered for abandonment has a long history of
flooding, deferred maintenance, and vehicle or pedestrian accidents.
If this abandonment is approved by the City of Beaumont, Knife River Corporation — South, at its sole expense
will modify the abandoned road right-of-way by grading the site to ensure proper drainage. The site will be
graded so that any processed water will be directed to be recycled into environmental controls to ensure water
quality. Additionally, Knife River Corporation — South will secure the area with fencing and gates.
This abandonment will reduce the maintenance burden to the City of Beaumont, improve water runoff, and
reduce fresh water demand for environmental and operational process of Knife River Corporation — South.
