AN ORDINANCE

ORDERING THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR THE CITY
OF BEAUMONT FOR THE YEAR 1930, AS PROVIDED BY THE CHARTER OF
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, ON THE DATE AND AT THE PLACE SET FORTH
IN SAID ORDINANCE FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR AND NINE
COUNCILMEN AS DESIGNATED IN SAID ORDINANCE;NAYING THE PLACES
AT WHICH SAID ELECTION SHALL BE HELD; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section l
That in accordance with Section 26, Subsection 4, of the
Charter of the City of Beaumont and other provisions of said
Charter, and the laws of the State of Texas relating thereto'.
there shall be held in the City of Beaunont on the first Tuesday
in April, 1930, the same being the is t day of iLpril, A. D. 1930't
a regular municipal election for said city for the purpose of
electing a mayor and for the purpose of electing three councilmen
for the First Ward, three councilmen for the Second Ward, and
three councilmen for the Third Ward in said City;
Section 2;
That said election shall be held in the City of Beaumont
in the following places, to wit:
In the First Ward at the mverill School Building,
and Central Fire Station;
In the Second Ward at the City Hall;
In the Third Ward at the Sabine Pass Fire Station'
the Ogden School Building, and South Park Elementary
School Building;
Section 3;
The following named persons are appointed presiding judges
for their respective voting boxes in said wards, with the authority
to select and appoint their own clerks:
At the Averill School Building
At the Central Fire Station
At the City Hall
At the Sabine Pass Fire Station
At the Ogden School Building
At the South Park Elementary School Bldg;

Section 4:

That said election shall be held under, and the qualifications
of those voting thereat shall be controlled by, the provisions of
the State Laws governing elections:
Section 5;
That a copy of this ordinance signed by the Mayor of the
City of Beaumont, and attested by the City Clerk thereof shall
serve as proper and sufficient notice of said election; and the
Mayor is hereby directed to cause a copy of this ordinance, signed
by himself and attested by the City Clerk, to be posted at each of
the places herein designated for holding said election at least
thirty (30) days prior to the date of holding said election:
Section 6.
That an ordinance has not yet been passed providing for
and ordering a general municipal election for the year 1930, and
that such ordinance is necessary, thereby creating an imperative
public emergency necessitating the suspension of the rule requiring
ordinances to be read on three separate days before their passage;
wherefore, said rule is hereby suspended and this ordinance shall
take effect from and after its passalge and the signature of the
Mayor:
