SUBJECT: Request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to remove the decorative wall above
the porte-cochere.

STAFF REPORT
HRC Construction would like to remove the decorative ached openings in the parapet above the
porte-cochere at 2497 Liberty Avenue. This parapet contains a row of upside down, scalloped
perforations. In addition, the home owner would like to remove the decorative eve surrounding
the porte-cochere. HRC states that this flat eve retains water, causing rot.
Staff recommends approval of removing the eve. However, staff recommends retaining the
arched openings that could be partially enclosed, leaving a recessed detail and therefore retaining
the architectural element.
The house is not listed in the SPARE survey.
