AN 0 RD INANCE
ORDERING THE GENE5�iL T;:UNICIPAL -LECTION FOR THE CITY
OF BELUMORT FOR THE YEAR 19291 AS PROVIDED BY THE CH' RT.ER OF
TIM CITY OF BEAU11ONT, ON THE DATE AND 11.T THE PLACE SET FORTH
IN SAID ORDINANCE FOR THE PURPOSE OF .ELECTING SIX COUNCILMEN
AS DESIGN TED IN S_ _ID ORDINANCE; NAMING THE PLACES AT WHICH
SAID ELECTION SHALL BE HELD; AND DECLARING AN EP:IERGENCY.
BE IT ORD'LINED BY THE CITY COM;ZISSION OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT :
Section 1.
That in accordance with Section 26, Subsection 4, of
the Charter of the City of Beaumont and o the r provisions of
said Charter, and the laws of the State of Texas relating there-
to, there shall be held in the City of Beaumont on the first
Tuesday in April, 1929, the same being the 2nd day of April,
A. D. 1929, a gegeral municipal election for said city for the
purpose of electing two councilmen for the First -dard, two
councilmen for the Second Ward, and two . -1 councilmen for the
Third ;yard in said city.
Section 2.
That said election shall be held in the City of Beaumont
in the following places, to wit:
In the First ';Yard at the Central Fire Station.
In the Second Ward at the City Hall.
In the Third Yard at the Sabine Fire Station.
Section 3.
The following named pe rs ons are appointed presiding
judges of their respective voting boxes in said yards, with the
authority to select and appoint their own clerks.
At the Central Fire Station, J. G. Fuqua.
At the City Hall, S. E. Bigham.
At the Sabine Fire Station, Mrs. R. I:I. Maery.
Section 4.
That said election shall be held under, and the c_ualifi-
cations of those voting thereat shall be controlled by, the pro-
visions of the State Laws governing elections.

Section 5.
That a copy of this o rd inane signed by the Mayor of the
City of Beaumont, and attested by the City Clerk thereof shall
serve as proper and sufficient notice of said election; and the
Mayor is hereby directed to cause a copy of this ordinance, signed
by himself and attested by the City Clerk, to be posted at each
of the places herein designated for holding said election at
least thirt'y days prior to the date of holding said election.
Section 6.
That an ordinance has not yet been passed providing for
and ordering a general municipal election for the year 1929 and
that such ordinance is necessary, thereby creating an imperative
public emergency necessitating the suspension of the rule requiring
ordinances to be read on three separate days before their passage;
wherefore, said rule is hereby suspended and this ordinance shall
take effect from and after its passage and the signature of the
ITayo r.
Passed by the affirmative vote of all members of the
Commission this the day of February n. 1929.
