Upon the passage of this ordinance the City I -Tanager is hereby
authorized and directed to appoint a suitable person qualified to
nerform-the duties,of, and whose official title shall be round
111aster, having such duties to perform and having such assistants
as in the judgment of the City ATa,nager is necessary to the proper
regulations and operation of said City Pound, the salary of said
Pound Master and his assistants to be determined by.the City Manager,
approved by the City Commission.
SECTION 2
It shall be the duty of the Pound :faster, and he is hereby:
required to impound and cuase to be impounded all horses, mules,
jack s jennets, cattle, sheep, 'swine and goats found running at
large or which are found unattend-ed- within the City limits of the
City of .Beaumont.
SECTION 3
It shall be the duty of the Pound Master, and he is hereby re-
quirea to collect from the o,,wner of any horses, mules, jacks, jennets,
cattle, sheep, swine and goats or other person to who. -ii said horses,
mules, jacks, jennets, cattle, sheep, swine and- goats is delivered
the sum of Three (53.00) Dollars as an impounding fee, and the further
sum of One ()1.00) Dollar as a maintenance fee for each and every
twenty four (24) hours or fraction thereof said horses, mules, jacks,
jennets, cattle, sheep, swine and goats has remaind.ed in his posses-
sion and custody after the first twenty --:lour hours have elapsed.

SECTION 4
It shall be the duty of the Pound Master and he is hereby re-
quired
to publish
of each
week 'in some
newspaper
in the
City of
Beaumont,
a list describ=ng
and stating
the number
of such
horses, mules, jacks, jennets, cattle, sheep, swine and goats as he
shall on that day have in his possession and custody, and alter the
expiration of clays from the date of publication of said list,
the Pound Plaster shall proceed to sell at public auction to -the
highest bidder for cash duy such horses, mules, jacks, jennets,
cattle, sheep, swine and goats then in his possession, and described
in said published list, or to destroy &ny such that cannot be sold.
✓ SECTION 5
It shall be the duty of the Pound Master and he is hereby re-
quired after deducting all impounding and maintenance fees as pro-
vided, to pay the residue, if any, derived from the sale of said
horses, mules, jacks, jennets, cattle, sheep, swine and goats to
the owner if known, and if not known, to the City Tax assessor and
Collector, taking his receipt therefor, and shall make and deliver
a bill of sale to the purchaser of any horses, mules, jacks, jennets,
cattle, sheep, swine and goats as by the terms of this ordinance is
provided.
SECTION 6
It shall be the duty of the Pound iiaster and he is hereby re-
quired to turn over all fees received by him from the impounding of
all animals of whatsoever kind to the City Tax Assessor and Collector,
taking his receipt for same, and shall further make such reports of
the number and kind of animals, how disposed of, amount of fees re-
ceived, etc., as may be required by the City Idanager,
SECTION 7
It shall be unlawful for the owner or any person in charge of
any horses, mules, jacks, jennets, cattle, sheep, swine and goats to

permit the same to run at large or to be found unattended in the City
limits of the City of Beaumont, and each and every day such horses,
mules, jacks, jennets, cattle, sheep, swine and goats shall be found-
running
oundrunning at large or unattended shall constitute a separate offense,
and upon conviction therefor in the Corporation Court of the City of
Beaumont shall be fined in any sum not to.exceed.Two Hund -red ($200.00)
Dollars.
-SECTION 8
All ordinances and parts of ordinances conflicting with this
ordinance shall be, and the same are, hereby repealed in -so far as
in conflict and no further.
