Re, -Request to close Syll Street
between Giles Street and
Florida Street
Gentlemen :-
This is to request that you close by ordinance
Syll Street between Giles Street and Florida Street and in
support of this request the following facts are submitted.
Syll Street was originally dedicated in the
Mazzu Addition to the City of Beaumont a great number of
years ago. It was approximately 4751 long and.601 in width,
and extended from Giles Street to Florida Street. Since its
dedication it has never been graded or improved or used as a
thoroughfare and the abutting property was and is owned by
the undersigned, John B. Goodhue, at all times material to
this request.
In order to better utilize this property and
in the interest of uniformity with adjoining subdivisions
It was necessary to replat and rededicate Blocks 3, 4 and
6 of the 'Mazzu Addition. To accomplish that purpose the
undersigned, John B. Goodhue, being the owner of all of
Blocks 3, 4 and 6 of the Mazzu Addition joined with the own-
ners of all of the adjoining Block 22 and the East one-half
of Block 21 of the Iowa Colony Subdivision and resubdivided
these .blocks into College Place Second Addition. This re-
subdivision was approved by the City Planning and Zoning
Commission by Certificate dated July 12, 1948 and a map there-
of was filed of record with the County Clerk of Jefferson
County, Texas, bearing File No. 253970. Photostatic copy
of such map is attached hereto.
r
In order to_accomplish the desired purposes Syll
Street was omitted from the replat. Its approximate location
as it existed prior to the resubdivision is shown in red on
the attached map.
Premises considered the undersigned respectfully
requests this Honorable Body to. pass an ordinance closing Syll
Street between Giles Street and.Florida Street.
Yours very truly,
