AN ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE VACATING AND
CLOSING OF THAT.PORTION OF,SIXTH STREET LYING
BETWEEN BLANCHETTE STREET AND THE.G. &.I.
RAILROAD.IN THE.CITY.OF BIEAUMONT.
WHEREAS, the City Engineer of The City of Beaumont has
proposed that a portion of Sixth Street lying between Blanchette
Street and the G. & I. Railroad in The City of Beaumont should
be vacated and closed in order to promote the best interest and
benefit of the public; and,
WHEREAS, the said proposal has been referred to the City
Planning and Zoning Commission for study, -investigation, and re-
commendation to the City Council as to whether such proposal
should be approved, and the City Planning and Zoning Commission
has thoroughly studied and investigated said proposal, and recom-
mended to the City Council that the approval of the said proposal
would be to the best interest and benefit of the public, and that
said proposal should, therefore, be approved; and,
WHEREAS, it is for the best interest of The City of Beau --
moat and benefit of the public that the above mentioned portion
of Sixth Street be vacated and closed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONTm-
that the portion of Sixth Street lying between Blanchette Street
and the G. & I. Railroad in The City of Beaumont be and the same
is hereby authorized to be vacated and closed, and that the title
to said vacated and closed portion of Sixth Street shall revert
to and become the property of the owners of the land abutting on
said vacated and closed portion of said Sixth Street, as provided
by law.

REGULAR SESSION OF THE CITY PLANNING AND ZONING COMflISSION
HELD NOVE15ER 8, 1948
" A petion was received resp esting that Sixth Street from
Blanchette Street to the G. & I. Railroad be closed.
Since this subject had been discussed at great length in the
last meeting after a very brief discussion a motion was made
by Mr. Stone and seconded by Miss McCluskey that this street
be closed as requested . The motion carried unanimously."
