APPORTIONING A TAX OF SIXTY-TWO CENTS (.62) ON EACH ONE HUNDRED DOL-
LARS VALUATION OF ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE PRESENT LIMITS OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, TEXAS, LEVIED AND ORDERED COLLECTED BY AN ORDINANCE PASSED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF.THE CITY OF BEAUMONT ON THE.3IST DAY OF AUGUST, A. D., 1948, FOR THE
PURPOSE OF FAYING.THE INTEREST,AND CREATING A SINKING FUND FOR THE BOND ACCOUNTS
THEREIN MENTIONED AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,
Section 1
That the tax of sixty-two cents ($.62) on each one hundred dollars
valuation of all taxable property within the limits of the City of Beaumont here-
tofore levied for interest and sinking fund accounts and ordered collected by an
Ordinance passed by the City Council of the City of Beaumont on the 31st day of
August, 1948, be and the same,is hereby apportioned among the various interest
and sinking funds as follows:
To the interest and sinking fund of Airport Bonds No. 1, dated July 1,
1929 - Six mills ($.0060).
To the interest and sinking fund of Airport Bonds No. 2, dated Decem-.
ber 1, 1939 - One cent (8.0100).
"To the interest and sinking fund of Assembly Hall Bonds No. 1, dated
December 1, 1939 - Two and Five -tenths mills (.$.0025).
To the interest and sinking fund of City Hall and Auditorium Bonds
No. 1, dated December 1, 1926 - Two gents and Five -tenths mills (`x.0205).
To the interest and sinking fund of Fair Park Bonds No. 1, dated May 1,
1931 - Six mills ($.0060).
To the interest and sinking fund of Fire Department Bonds 1922, dated
October 1, 1922 - Three and Five -tenths mills (8.0035),
To the interest and sinking fund of Fire Department Bonds No. 2, dated
December 1, 1926 - One cent ($.0100).
To the interest and sinking fund of Fire Department Bonds No. 3, dated
July 1, 1929 - Six mills ($.0060).
To the interest and sinking fund of Fire Department Bonds No. 4, dated
April 1, 1937 - One and Five -tenths mills ($.0015).
To the interest and sinking fund of Fire Station Improvement Bonds,
series 1947 - Five mills ($.0050).
To the interest and sinking fund of Fire Station Improvement Bonds,
series 1945 - Seven and Five -tenths mills (y%0075).
To the interest and sinking fund of Market House Bonds No. 2, dated
January 1, 1915 - One mill 0.0010).
To the interest and sinking fund of Park Bonds No. 2, dated January 1,
1918 - Four and Five -tenths mills 0.0045).
To the interest and sinking fund of Park Bonds No. 3, dated February 1,.
1926 - Two mills ($.0020).
To the interest and sinking fund of Park Bonds No. 4, dated December 1,
1946 - Seven and Five -tenths mills ($.0075).
To the interest and sinking fund of Park Bonds No. 5, dated July 1,
1929 - One mill ($.0010).
To the interest and sinking fund of Park Bonds No. 6, dated April 1,
1937 - Three mills ($.0030).
To the interest and sinking fund of Police Department Bonds No. 1, dated
December 1, 1926 - Eight mills ($.0080).
To the interest and sinking fund of Police Stations Improvement Bonds,
Series 1947, dated September 1, 1947 - Two mills ($.0020).
To the interest and sinking fund of Police Stations Improvement Bonds,
Series 1948 - One cent and Four and Five -tenths mills ($.0145)..
To the interest and sinking fund of Public Building Bonds No. 1, dated
July 1, 1930 - Two and Five -tenths mills ($.0025).
To the interest and sinking fund of Public Library Improvement Bonds,
Series 1948 - Five mills ($.0050).
To the interest and sinking fund of Refunding Bonds No. 1, dated July 1,
1929 - One Cent and Seven mills ($.0170).
To the interest and sinking fund of Safety Department Bonds No. 1, dated
February 1, 1926 - Six and Five -tenths mills ($.0065)..
To the interest and sinking fund of Sewerage Bonds 1922, dated October 1,
1922 - One cent and three mills ($.0130).
To the interest and sinking fund of Sewerage Bonds No. 11, dated February
1, 1926 - Eight and Five -tenths mills ($.00$5).
To the interest and sinking fund of Sewerage Bonds No. 12, dated December
1, 1926 - One cent and eight mills ($.01$0).
To the interest and sinking fund of Sewerage Bonds No: 13, dated July 1,
1929 -Eight and Five -tenths mills ($.0085).
To the interest and sinking fund of Sewerage Bonds No. 14, dated February
1, 1931 - Nine and Five -tenths mills ($.0095).
To the interest and sinking fund of Sewerage Bonds No. 15, dated December
1, 1939 - Two and Five -tenths mills ($.0025).
To the interest and sinking fund of Sewerage System Improvement Bonds,
Series 1947, dated September -1, 1947 - Two cents and Four and Five -tenths mills
($.0245).
To the interest and sinking fund of Storm Sewer Improvement Bonds, Series
1947, dated September 1, 1947 - Five mills ($.0050).

To the interest and sinking fund of Wharf & Dock Bonds 1922, dated

To the interest and sinking fund of Wharf & Dock Bonds No. 4, dated

To the interest and sinking fund of Wharf and Dock Refunding Bonds,
Series A, dated June 1, 1935 - Two and Five -tenths mills,($.0025).
To the interest and sinking fund of Wharf and Dock Refunding Bonds,
Series B, dated July 1, 1935 - One mill ,($.0010)..

That the City Tax Assessor and Collector is hereby instructed to
prorate the said sums so.assessed according to the provisions of the Ordi-
nance, and to so present his statement and report to the Director of Finance
that said officer may be able to place all collections made under said tax
to the credit of the proper fund, and that the same may not be diverted or
used for any other purpose.
Section 3
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of
this Ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court
of competent jurisdiction, such section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase
or portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision and
such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof.
PASSED this the 31st day of August, A. D., 1948, by the affirmative
vote of all members of the City Council.

AN ORDINANCE
PROVIMING FOR THE LEVYING, ASSESSING AND COLLECTING
OF AD VALOREM AND OTHER TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1948 FOR THE
PURPOSE OF PAYING THE GENERAL OPERATING EXPENSES OF THE
CITY GOVERNMENT AND PROVIDING A SINKING FUND TO MEET THE
PAYMENT OF ALL BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
AND THE PAYMENT OF ACCRUING INTEREST THEREON; PROVIDING
FOR THE PAYMENT OF OCCUPATION TAX AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS
CLAUSE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1
That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall:.
be assessed and collected for the year 1948., for municipal'
purposes only, an ad valorem tax of One and 74100 1$1.74)
Dollars on each One Hundred Dollars worth of property located
within the present.City limits of the City of Beaumont., made
taxable by law, which said taxes when collected shall- be
for the purpose hereinafter set forth as follows, to -wit:
For the General Fund $1:.12
For the purpose of paying the
accruing interest and to provide
a sinking fund for the payment
of the entire bonded indebtedness
of the City of Beaumont. .62
Section 2
That there shall be and is hereby levied and there
shall be collected on -all accupation-s and callings on which
an occupational tax is levied by the State of Texas, a sum
equal -to one-half of the amount so levied by the State of
Texas,, -.on each respective occupation or calling in the City
of Beaumont.
Section 3
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase
or portion of this Ordinance is for any reason held invalid
or unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction,
such section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion
shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent pro-
vision and such holding_ shall not _affect the validity of -the -
remaining portions thereof.
